Does Florida Recognize Legal Separation?

Florida generally does not recognize legal separations. You can separate and as long as the parties are in agreement with that separation, it just doesn’t matter. It’s when the one spouse requires support of the other and that spouse does not support the the other spouse, then you need to go into court and ask for support, child support, spousal support, things of that nature.
