Fourth District Court of Appeal Rules In Favor of Boca Raton Businessman

by | Feb 5, 2015

Bryan G. Rudnick, managing member of Boca Raton-based Alliance Strategies Group and political consultant, won his appeal last week in a child support case against ex-wife, Allyson Harman. The Fourth District Court of Appeal ruled that there was uncontroverted evidence that a portion of Rudnick’s 2012 income was the result of a spike in business due to that year’s presidential election and shouldn’t be relied on solely to calculate his child support obligation.

The increased earnings in question stem from Rudnick’s time as a national Republican political consultant. In the 2012 campaign season, his income almost quadrupled to nearly $495,000. In Palm Beach Circuit Court, Harman argued her ex-husband’s gross income for child support purposes was $632,693, but Rudnick claimed the figure should be $156,435. After hearing lengthy testimony, Circuit Judge Colin determined the consultant’s income for child support purposes was just under $497,000.

However, the Appeals Court ruled the spike was likely an anomaly that wouldn’t continue the following year. Rudnick earned slightly more than $120,000 in 2010 and about $193,000 in 2011. Judge Matthew Stevenson reversed and remanded the case.

Rudnick isn’t a stranger to the spotlight. In 2008, he was fired by the Pennsylvanian Republican Party after he masterminded an email campaign that invoked the Holocaust to sway Jewish voters away from Barack Obama. Rudnick and Harman divorced in 2009.
