During Divorce Do I Have To Provide All Financial Documents?

In the event of a divorce, each spouse is required to file what we call a financial affidavit. It’s basically a snapshot in time of the financial position of the parties. It lists their income. It lists their expenses. It lists their assets. It lists the liabilities. It’s just like a balance sheet. You’re required to do it. It’s a good idea because again, we know what the other spouse has going in. Saves time. It saves money.

Again, we don’t have trial by ambush. We know exactly what the parties have when we’re going in. If we do go to trial, the judge will have all this information and the judge will make a decision based on all the information and all the evidence given.
