How long do I have to answer a foreclosure lawsuit?

Once a lawsuit has been filed against a homeowner and they’ve been served with a summons and complaint, what that means is they’re handed the papers by a process server. They then have 20 days from that point to file a response to a complaint of foreclosure. The failure to file that response will result in a default against the homeowner and then the bank’s attorney will then just steamroll right over the homeowner in getting the property back.
